BlackBox Radio

Get Involved

Even if you have no previous experience on the radio, we are happy to share with you all the skills you need to get started! As a journalist for BlackBox Radio, you will be part of a wider movement that is committed to using media production and distribution as tools for promoting social, economic and environmental justice worldwide. Our content is produced by a team of volunteers like you, and there are many ways to get involved.

Weekly roles include:

+writing headlines
+producing news segments
+engineering
+hosting the show/reading headlines

Other ways to be involved:

• Record a lecture, interview, protest, or other event.
• Volunteer to help on a specific topic: find articles, arrange interviews or performances.
• Act as a liaison between BlackBox and student or community groups: keep BlackBox up to date on local issues and events.
• Work on publicizing BlackBox. Add to our outreach list of local organizations on campus and in the community.
• Solicit press releases.
• Share your knowledge: how to facilitate a meeting, reach consensus, conduct an interview, use audacity or protools, etc.
• Come to meetings and share your ideas!

Our collective has weekly meetings. They happen every Monday night in the studios of WCBN, in downtown Ann Arbor, MI. Contact us for directions or more info: blackbox@wcbn.org
